With all the various differences tonally and technologically to previous entries into the major videos in the FA-verse, I couldn’t help thinking this one was a progression from the seminal Hockey Promo, akin to Black Sabbath’s Paranoid to Vol. 4 - and is Anthony Van Engelen now one of the most “Black Sabbath” skaters on the planet? Let’s analyse the middle of the young upstart sandwich then and try to discover what makes AVE’s part in this so re-watchable.
One if the first things that defines any part’s rewatchability for me has to be having an affinity for the soundtrack, and the epic trumpet solo heard in this one definitely ticks that box. AVE blasts down various (presumably) Los Angeles back streets, rolling back the years with hints of Photosynthesis-era techness - the switch ollie, switch heel pavement bump line, switch 180 manny revert, line-ending bigspin flip off the keen to name a few.
