Hey guys, we’ve got a few things coming up in the next few weeks!
A review of Gnarfolk, a Norfolk scene video recently released by longtime Norfolk filmer Jake Hearney,
Issue 15 of our zine, this time a dedicated photo issue,
The first edition of our Extended zine, hosting some of our favourite articles from the paid section of this newsletter.
The next article in our Sounds series, focusing on a certain shared part from an Osiris video - Any guesses?
We’ve also got a copy of Gnarfolk to give away to a subscriber, so make sure you’re signed up to the newsletter! We’ll be choosing the winner when the review of the video is released later this week!
Pro nod for the one and only Dead Dave! Great concept throughout this one, street trannies, DIY, early grabs, and wallrides - I especially loved the tricks along the M62 corridor (which reminds, there’s a classic Document article I need to revisit and write about) including Liverpool, Huddersfield, Bradford, Leeds and Hull. Some my spots in the world are in there…
One of the most stylish guys out, Jake Sparham has a rad new Barcelona edit out, filmed by Tom Sykes. In this one, Jake continues to push his fakie skills to the limit with various manuals of increasing difficulty!
Have a watch of of his Concrete Waves part we put out a while back to see what the guy can do on tranny… Filmed and edited by Danny Parker.
Excellent new one from the best in Polish skateboarding! Plenty of the fast, gnarly, crusty, unique spot stuff we’ve come to expect from Grey Area, but one thing I didn’t expect was the sheer amount of original manual rolls - Tomek Ziotkowski’s section has some really rad nose manual combos…
Amazing documentary on 25 years of Darren Navarrette! Owner of one of the best and most unique styles in skateboarding, Navs has been a favourite of mine since I first watched Emerica’s This is Skateboarding in which he had a short section in the middle of possibly the definitive video for gnar / handrail skating, and I wondered what the hell I was watching…
Been a while since we posted up one of these! Pretty sure this is the first time Elijah Akerley has turned up in one of these Backyard Barging edits and, alongside Patrick Ryan and Tristan Rennie makes this a particular enjoyable episode!
Great backyard ramp edit from Jonathan Gagné of Montreal. This one could have been filmed in the 80s, the SD format, DIY backyard ramp, trick selections, boards, bands and big crew sessions all hark to prior periods in skateboarding - What I’d give for something like this right now!
One of the smoothest to do it! Marius Syvanen with a new part for Habitat - Each of those bank to kerb / rail tricks are superb.
Subscribers! Let us know your thoughts on this new, more in-depth format of the weekly newsletter in the comments below please!
