Vans Europe recently released a new full length, Iberico, focusing on the Spanish side of things, and we were stoked to see one of our favourites David Sanchez having a decent amount of footage towards the end of the video. We decided to re-up his section separately from the rest of the video to celebrate!
You can view the full Iberico video here.
Here’s a great equivalent video from the Germany, Austria and Switzerland teams!

David has a really unique, stocky style that combines well woth his transition-oriented trick and spot selections. You often see feet balanced on his toes / heels mid-trick, which definitely adds to the stylishness / danger factor of said tricks! He’s really quick and often performs a number of difficult tricks in quick succession - see the line involving the No Comply Blunt early on in the part for reference to that…
Throughout the part there are many different kinds of transition, but David looks consummately comfortable on all types of transition, increasing the variety and feel of the section due to the variance in terrain. The difficulty of the line in that black structure starting at 1:30 should be testament to that! One foot disaster followed by a nosegrind?! When it comes to street skating, David prefers a trannied spot, but can mix it on other types of terrain including ledges and banks. With his penchant for parks and obscure spots compared to most of the rest of the skaters included in the video, I wonder how they incorporated this into the filming trips.
He clearly has good control in switch stance too, including various switch tricks mid-line throughout, the standout being super fast Mayday straight into a switch manual roll around the corner of the bowl, straight back into the tranny. The aforementioned No Comply Blunt line also includes a stylish switch ollie, almost impossibly quickly after the blunt, followed by a switch pivot fakie on a whippy quarter… His switch skills can be glimpsed in how he takes alot of tricks in the part, perhaps none more so than middle of the roundabout spot at 1:55 - a blunt to New Deal impeccably pivoted back into the tranny…
